According to a news report on the Buganda Kingdom website Buganda citizens from Bugerere county who are called Banyala visited with the Katikkiro of Buganda, Owek. JB Walusimbi in his offices at Bulange Mengo on Friday afternoon.

The report adds that they “distanced themselves from the Ssaabanyala institution. They emphasized that the institution is being forced on to them by individuals who have their own selfish needs and that their head has always been known as Nkojjo who is answerable to the Kabaka of Buganda and not to any one else.

“The group went ahead to say that, they also have a clan leader called Nsamba Fred and said that they will always oppose the Ssabanyala institution.
“The Katikkiro later promised them that he will work hand in hand with other Kingdom officials to further look into their concerns which he said should be not mixed with the Buluuli issues.”
