Mukono district has got a new RDC Nasser Munuulo replacing David Matovu who was sent to Wakiso district in the same office. Munuulo has been serving as RDC Buikwe district and today has taken over office of Mukono RDC from Matovu.
Some of the people who have been following Munuulo as RDC Buikwe district are worried they way how he has been handling land matters. On several occasions Munuulo has been seen taking sides with people who are grabbing land from the poor people.
One of the incidents is of this old man identified as Ssalongo Samuel Kibuuka whose two acres of coffee and banana plantation were slashed on orders of Munuulo without court order. According to Kibuuka who claims to be a kibanja holder he just saw Munuulo with police and people with pangas destroying his plantation.
Another incident is of Kigaya land saga in which Munuulo as RDC failed to settle the matter between the residents and the minister who is alleged to have bought that land.
The newly appointed Resident District Commissioner for Mukono District Nasser Munuulo has urged stake holders in the district not to engage him into personal conflicts based on personal grounds since this might divert him from serving the people he has been sent to serve.
Saying this on the official hand over of office from Maj. David Matovu who was forwarded to Wakiso district in the recently concluded reshuffle. Munuulo claims conflicts of this kind hinder development programs in the entire district which affect service delivery. The poor people who are facing land evictions are mostly likely to miss the services of Matovu who had atleast tried to settle land disputes’.
